the Picking zone is a defined area within a warehouse where items for open sales orders are picked and prepared for dispatch.
In SAP Business One, the picking zone forms the operational core of the pick-and-pack process. Once sales orders are released for picking, the system consolidates requirements into a picking list. Employees retrieve items based on this list and prepare them for packing. The process concludes with a packing slip and the prepared delivery. In warehouses with bin location management enabled, the picking list additionally specifies exact bin locations – retrieval must be confirmed at the relevant bin location.
Demarcation
The picking zone is not a separate storage location in the system's sense, but rather a logistical process area. It differs from the goods receipt area, which is reserved for incoming goods, and from the finished goods warehouse, from which ready-to-ship inventory is dispatched to customers.
