On Storage location is a self-managed storage area within a company, to which a separate inventory is assigned in SAP Business One.
SAP Business One treats storage locations as independent master data objects. Each item can display separate stock per storage location. Goods movements – receipts, issues, and transfers – are always booked with reference to a specific storage location. Stock transfers between storage locations create an issue in the system at the source location and a receipt at the destination location. In addition to the storage location level, SAP Business One allows for the optional activation of bin location management: individual storage bins can be defined and occupied within a storage location – a storage bin is assigned via a field in the document header or in the document line once the corresponding warehouse has been activated for it.
Demarcation
The warehouse location describes the parent unit (e.g., main warehouse, consignment warehouse), while the storage bin represents the granular bin level within a warehouse location. Both concepts are hierarchically separated in SAP Business One and can be managed independently of each other.
