Predictive maintenance is a modern maintenance strategy in which the condition of machines, plants or technical systems is continuously monitored and analysed. The aim is to recognise potential faults at an early stage and predict the optimum time for maintenance measures - before failures occur. This is achieved by combining sensor data, Internet of Things (IoT), data analysis procedures and often also Artificial intelligence (AI). Unlike preventive maintenance (according to fixed time intervals) or reactive maintenance (after a failure), predictive maintenance is based on the actual requirements and condition of the system. This data-driven method leads to greater efficiency, less downtime and a longer service life for machines.
