B1 Usability Package (B1UP)

E-invoicing in Germany: How to implement the obligation with SAP Business One

That B1 Usability Package — abbrev. B1UP — is one of the most widely used add-ons for SAP Business One. It is developed by Boyum IT Solutions and provides a collection of tools which allow customisation of the user interface, workflows and standard behaviour of SAP B1 without classic SDK development.

Context

B1UP bundles several building blocks: Function Buttons for your own actions on forms, Macros for sequences of field assignments, Configuration Package Manager for transportable customisation packages, Universal Functions for recurring workflow steps, Pervasive Tools how dashboard extensions and a powerful formulas and validation system. Typical requirements include „When opening the item master, certain fields should be prominently displayed," „Force a field to be mandatory on the outgoing invoice," „Display a ‚Create Service Call' button on the customer form." These customisations are maintained in B1UP via a graphical console, exported as a package, and imported into other clients or customer systems. B1UP integrates deeply into the UI API and respects the SAP B1 authorisation structure; it receives regular updates that keep pace with new SAP B1 feature packages.

Demarcation

B1UP is not a specialised module — it does not provide accounting, production, or field service features. It is the tool for adapting external and in-house modules uniformly to process standards. Compared to Coresuite Customize, it is the richer choice in many SME installations because it also brings dashboards, analysis tools, and mobile approaches; for pure DACH customers, it competes functionally with Coresuite Customize, but should not be confused with a pure Formatted Search, which SAP provides without an additional license.
