LayoutHelper is a Coresuite tool that accelerates the development and maintenance of complex Crystal Reports document templates. It provides reusable layout components, consistent placeholders, and a validation layer to prevent consultants from having to construct every document form from scratch.
Context
LayoutHelper is typically used by consultants and power users when new document types or country-specific variants (e.g., mandatory fields according to the E-Invoicing Law) are added. The tool offers pre-made header/footer components, standardised address blocks, bank details and tax information sections, as well as formula templates that can be directly imported into Coresuite Designer. It also checks whether the placeholders set match the actual data sources – missing fields, inconsistent localisations, or tag violations are reported before release. For archiving pipelines (e.g., via CKS.DMS), LayoutHelper supports the correct positioning of the CKSPRINTTAG, without which the receipt would not be automatically archived.
Demarcation
LayoutHelper does not replace either Crystal Reports or Coresuite Designer: it builds upon both and shortens development time. It is also not a mass printing engine – Sharpshooter is responsible for that – nor a reporting library like the Versino/Coresuite Country Package. In small installations with few document variants, its use is often not worthwhile; its value increases with the number of maintained layouts and the frequency of statutory adjustments.
