PEPPOL (PanEuropean Public Procurement Online) is an essential platform to facilitate the exchange of electronic documents between trading partners in public procurement. Using a special "4-corner model", PEPPOL enables the exchange of standards-based electronic Document via the PEPPOL network. This platform integrates seamlessly with SAP Business One to ensure efficient handling of electronic documents.

By utilising PEPPOL access points, users can access the PEPPOL network and exchange electronic receipts in accordance with PEPPOL specifications. This offers the advantage that buyers and sellers can choose their preferred provider of a central access point to connect to all PEPPOL participants already on the network. This follows the principle: "Connect once, connect to all".
Electronic invoicing, which is facilitated by PEPPOL, is a legal requirement for public procurement processes in some countries. Originally launched as a European initiative, countries outside Europe also have the opportunity to implement and utilise PEPPOL standards.
Various systems and tools are required to implement the PEPPOL solution in SAP Business One, including the SAP Business One Client, the Electronic Document Service (EDS), the Electronic File Manager (EFM), the SAP Business One Integration Platform (B1i) and an SAP Access Point or other access point.
Of particular note is that the PEPPOL protocol is available in certain localisations that contain specific functions for electronic receipts and reports as well as PEPPOL functions. These include countries such as the Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom. In other countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, India and Mexico, the PEPPOL protocol is currently not available. All others localizations offer two protocols, "Generic" and PEPPOL.
The integration enables the generation of UBL invoices (version 2.1) via EFM and a B1i scenario connected to the SAP access point. This integration of PEPPOL in SAP Business One optimises the processes of electronic document transmission and facilitates compliance with legal requirements in various countries, especially in public procurement processes.
