SAP S/4HANA is an advanced ERP software solution from SAP that was introduced in 2015 as a further development of the previous SAP ECC system. The software is based on the in-memory platform SAPHANAwhich enables efficient and powerful data processing.
A core feature of SAP S/4HANA is its role as the foundation for creating 'intelligent' businesses. The suite has a visually appealing user interface optimised for mobile devices called SAP Fioriwhich offers an improved and modernised user experience.
SAP S/4HANA is available in various operating models: On premisecloud-based (available since 2017) and in a hybrid model. Companies can either purchase this software suite directly or subscribe to it as part of a "software as a service" model, which also includes service and maintenance.
At the beginning of 2020, SAP committed to continuing maintenance for SAP S/4HANA until the end of 2040. This will ensure the long-term support and development of the product.
