E-invoicing in Germany: How to implement the obligation with SAP Business One

VariAdd is a German add-on family from Variatec GmbH & Co. KG, which adapts SAP Business One to the typical requirements of medium-sized trading and service companies. The product range bundles extensions for purchasing, sales, warehouse logistics, master data maintenance, reporting as well as industry solutions such as shipping logistics and product structures with many variants.

Context

Among the best-known modules are extensions to the SAP B1 document logic (e.g., more flexible document types, surcharges, service billing), inventory modules with batch and serial number management, shipping add-ons with connections to parcel services (DHL, UPS, DPD, GLS), and specialised tools for master data migration and mass maintenance. VariAdd uses SAP B1's UDF/UDT/UDO mechanisms and extends typical forms with its own tabs, fields, and actions. Deployment is via installation packages that are uploaded into SAP B1's add-on manager; adjustments to client requirements are usually made by the implementing SAP B1 partner. Many German medium-sized companies use VariAdd modules in parallel with B1UP or Coresuite to close industry- or process-specific gaps left open by the major suites.

Demarcation

VariAdd is not a closed overall suite – individual modules can be purchased selectively and combined as needed. It is also not a replacement for the Versino Financial Suite or CKS.DMS: Financial-specific reporting, DATEV integration and document archiving remain the appropriate choice there. Compared to international products like B1UP or Coresuite, VariAdd's focus is on the German SME sector and therefore on German-language mandatory disclosures, DACH shipping processes and DACH-specific industry processes.
