client-server model

The client-server model includes the option of dividing tasks and services in a network. The tasks are taken over by programmes that are divided into clients and servers. A client can request a task (e.g. a resource) from the server and the server responds to the request (e.g. provides the resource). The server can be located on the same or another computer in the network.
