That Sales area is a regional assignment in SAP Business One that allocates customers and sales employees to geographical areas.
Functionality
-
- Customer allocation: Each customer is assigned to an area
- Employee assignment: Sales representatives for specific territories
- Evaluation: Sales analyses according to sales territories
Use in SAP Business One
Sales territories are managed in SAP Business One by defining territories, which are then assigned to the sales organisations. Business partners can be assigned.
Here is the basic process:
-
Definition of sales territories: The valid values for sales territories are predefined in the system and come from the table
OTER. These definitions make it possible to create a structured list of areas that can be used later. -
Assignment to business partners: When creating or editing business partners (customers, Delivery or interested parties), you can assign them a sales territory:
- Navigate to Business partner → Business partner master data.
- In the "General" tab of the business partner master data, you will find the field
OCRD.Territory. - This field is a drop-down list from which you can select one of the previously in
OTERdefined areas. - Select the relevant area and save the changes to the business partner.
Assigning a sales territory to a business partner makes it possible to filter reports, perform analyses and manage responsibilities based on geographical or organisational territories.
Tables used:
OCRD(Business Partners): Saves the assigned sales territory in the fieldOCRD.Territory.OTER(Territories): Saves the definitions of the available sales territories.
