In an article in the SAP publication sap.info, the Walldorf-based company presents the development plans for SAP Business One. The so-called roadmap goes into 2014, according to which new versions (major releases) will be introduced every two years. Business One 9.0 will be released in 2012 and Business One 10.0 in 2014.
Next upgrade coming soon
Also the next upgrade the version 8.8 is already on the horizon. (Something like this is then called a minor release). Among other things, the upgrade Wizard and simplified the process of improving the software. Further work will also be done on the interface to allow for even more personalised settings.
As announced, 8.81 will also feature Web 2.0 functionalities such as the integration of Twitter and Facebook find.
New BusinessObjects functions
What will happen with the new BusinessObjects functions will be clear in the second quarter of 2010. Real-time analyses via Crystal Reports and Xcelcius will then be available in several language versions. However, it is not yet known what the licensing models for these offers will look like.
Mobile access
Mobile access via Blackberry and iPhone is also due for delivery with version 8.81, as well as the expansion of the remote maintenance platform for SAP partners.
Business One 9.0
The next big version will come in 2012, SAP Business One 9.0 on the market. New integrated help functions and further integration of BusinessObjects are on the agenda. The further integration of the web world is also an issue. Partner extensions will play a major role. The focus here is on the "cloud", which then leads to so-called Hybrid systems which should obtain part of their functions from the on-site installation and another part from the web.
All that is known about Business One 10 at the moment is that the sales launch is targeted for 2014.
Maintenance and support
The new versions, i.e. major releases, receive support for three years. Minor releases, on the other hand, directly replace their predecessors. In addition, minor changes and enhancements (patches) are made available every four to twelve weeks.
