For software developers who want to gain basic knowledge about the platform of SAPHANA and gain an insight into the native programming possibilities of SAP HANA, SAP now offers the new online course "Introduction to Software Development on SAP HANA". It complements the extensive range of training and certification courses for SAP HANA that SAP Education offers both online and in training centres worldwide.
SAP will offer the new course as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). This learning format, which consists of online lectures, self-tests, weekly assignments and online discussion forums, is becoming increasingly popular. The course combines the learning experience of traditional face-to-face training with greater flexibility for the learner. As a course provider, SAP can scale the training virtually without limits. It will also be offered in the future at 1,330 universities worldwide through the SAP University Alliances programme.
The Massive Open Online Course format offers developers a great opportunity to get an introduction to SAP HANA. At the same time, they benefit from being able to attend lectures and exercises independent of time and location," says Dr Bernd Welz, Senior Vice President and Head of Solution and Knowledge Packaging, SAP. To offer participants maximum flexibility, lectures can also be viewed via mobile device or offline.
We are seeing a growing demand for SAP HANA knowledge and self-study methods. Our efforts to expand our portfolio and offer learners more flexibility are also being recognised by analysts," adds Markus Schwarz, Senior Vice President and Global Head of SAP Education. The new course is an ideal introduction to SAP Education's comprehensive and detailed online offering around SAP HANA and other strategic solutions.
Interested parties can register via openSAP (open.sap.com) register. The six-week course starts on 27 May 2013 and requires four hours of study time per week. Participants who successfully pass the assignments and the final test will receive a certificate attesting to their first step towards becoming an SAP HANA developer. The offer will be available in English only.
