A key in SAP Business One that uniquely identifies a group of objects that have a specific relationship to each other.
Of the Group code is a versatile field in SAP Business One that is used in various areas to categorise and organise data records. It improves clarity and makes it easier to analyse data by structuring it according to user-defined criteria.
Areas of application of the group code:
- Supplier groups:
- In the window "List: Business partners" suppliers can be displayed based on their group code.
- The group code is entered in the fourth line of the "List - Settings" window The suppliers are sorted according to their group affiliation.
- This sorting creates clarity and makes it easier to work with extensive supplier data.
- Supplier enquiries:
- In the window "Supplier enquiry" can be entered in the "Group no." A number can be specified in order to combine several supplier enquiries into a group.
- This makes it possible to link purchase requisitions that are sent to several suppliers.
- If no group number is entered manually, the system automatically counts them up using the defined numbering series.
- Units of measure:
- Units of measure can be grouped to efficiently manage items with different packaging sizes.
- Example: The units of measure "piece", "cans" and "Cardboard" can be grouped together, with one carton containing 20 cans and 40 pieces.
- Such quantity-based links are defined in the "Group definition".
Advantages and customisation options:
- FlexibilityThe group code can be customised to the specific requirements of a company.
- User-defined group codesCompanies can create their own group codes to structure data individually and enable targeted analyses.
- Increased efficiencyGroup codes facilitate the management and linking of data records in various modules, such as purchasing, logistics and master data management.
