That is somehow only consistent. Now SAP Business One is not only available from the cloudbut from the Amazon Cloud (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud / Amazon EC2). This was announced yesterday by SAP in a press release.
The demand in Germany for ERP solutions from the cloud is still rather low, which will certainly not be increased by the former bookseller's offer in the cloud. Nevertheless, this announcement is certainly an exclamation mark. If you take a closer look at SAP's announcement, you realise that it could be a combination of a purchase and a rental model and not just Software as a Service (SAAS).
This is because Sap Business One users can use their existing (purchased) licences themselves and use the PAAS (Platform as a Service) to utilise their advantages. This naturally opens up completely new approaches for companies that operate globally and want to provide their SAP Business One quickly and scalably.
But before all existing SAP Business One customers frantically check the options and costs: the offer is provided for Sap Business One on Hana, which is basically the real innovation. After all, running HANA requires special hardware.
However, if you absolutely want to use Amazon's services to run your Windows server and MS-SQL Database to the cloud can also use this setup. Amazon EC2 also enables the MS Windows operationand the databases SQL Server Express Edition, SQL Server Web Edition and SQL Server Standard Edition. The use is charged on an hourly basis.
If the pricing is right, there will be fewer voices in Germany warning of data loss in the cloud and direct access by the NSA.
