Widget (SAP Business One)

On Widget In SAP Business One, a component in the cockpit that displays business figures, key performance indicators, object quantities, or process chains. Cockpits and their widgets show the user what is currently being done, what information is currently changing, and how to prioritize tasks.

Widget gallery and widget classes

SAP provides a large stock of widgets and groups them in the Widget Gallery. For the Fiori cockpit, the widgets are divided into four classes. Dashboards are graphical representations of business figures. Key Performance Indicators show a performance metric, such as profitability or liquidity, with total amount, target for the period, and trend compared to the previous period. Business object count shows the total number of business objects. Workbench represents complete business processes. The system automatically adjusts all displayed widgets according to number and size to fit the screen resolution.

Counting widget

A Business Object Number type widget is called the „fall-by-fall“ counter widget in the program. It shows, for example, the number of open outgoing invoices or unfulfilled customer orders. A click jumps to the detail list behind the condensed value. From there, the user branches off into individual transactions or master data using drilldown. With count widgets, he therefore starts business process steps very easily. If a widget is missing in the gallery, he creates a custom count widget based on a query. To do this, he opens “Cockpit” under “Extras” • “Dashboard” to configure the count widget, assigns a code, a name, and a description, and connects the widget via the “Select Query” button to the query. The widget then displays the number of rows in the query result, for example, the number of customers without UID. Ideally, it will be 0.

KPI widget, Workbench and Dashboard widget

The KPI widget only represents a value in thousands of the domestic currency. At the bottom left, it shows the trend: The metric appears green for a positive trend and red for a negative one. KPI widgets provide maximum condensed information but no details and do not advance any operational workflow. The Workbench, on the other hand, provides an overview of an entire process chain. It shows the status of the individual process steps and enables direct entry into each step. The dashboard widget is based on the SAP Business One Integration Framework, which must be active. The activation of these widgets is a further task for the consultant.

The cockpit (SAP Business One) is the interface; widgets are the building blocks within it. A dashboard is a widget class.
