Function for determining the predefined control indicator that is used as the default value for document lines and Freight is proposed in sales and purchase documents.
It is based on predefined rules and master data that are checked in a specific order.
Access to tax code determination
You can find tax code determination in SAP Business One under:
Administration > Definition > Financial accounting > Tax > Tax code determination
Sequence of tax code determination
The determination is carried out in a defined sequence to ensure that the correct tax code is used. These steps are checked one after the other:
- Rules for determining the tax code
If specific rules have been defined, these are checked first. These rules are based on criteria such as article groups, countries or transaction types. - Tax code in the business partner master data
If no rule applies, the system checks whether a standard tax code is stored in the business partner master data. - Tax code in the article master data
If no tax code is stored in the business partner master either, the check is carried out for a stored tax code in the article master. - Tax code in the freight definition
If no tax code is defined in the business partner or article master data, the freight definition is checked. - Tax code in the Account determination ledger accounts
Account determination for G/L accounts is used as the last instance to determine a tax code.
Customisation options and important notes
The functionality of tax code determination can be customised in SAP Business One to meet individual requirements. Here are some aspects that should be considered:
- Adaptation through rules:
You can modify the tax code determination with user-defined rules to make the selection more precise. - Manual customisation:
If the predefined sequence of determination leads to an undesired result, the tax code can be changed manually in the document. - Maintenance of master data:
Correct and complete maintenance of the master data for business partners and articles is essential to ensure error-free tax code determination.
