Industry 4.0 - time for the future

That the prophecies of Industry 4.0 are slowly becoming reality is shown by a new online course that is unexpectedly close to the house of SAP.

Major changes are predicted - or rather expected - with the 4th Industrial Revolution. These will probably be best recognised in manufacturing companies.
Imagine: a sensor detects a fault in a production piece. Instead of being checked by a technician, the machine decides on its own whether a repair is necessary. Repair is possible or whether the production item will be disposed of. The information within production is forwarded to a system (usually a Manufacturing Execution System), which enables the rest of the production process to be optimised. production can be adapted to the error message in real time. Meanwhile, the ERP system for the repair or replacement of the failed production item (material, etc.). At the end of the process, the latter will check whether the production delay means that the delivery time is in danger and the client must be informed.

This process is also intended to initiate an independent learning process between the machine and systems so that production errors can be avoided in future. It is hoped that this will enable automatic Process optimisation.

Can you not yet imagine that the technology in your working environment can manage such processes?
The Hasso Plattner Institute (yes, SAP founder Hasso Plattner) and the German Academy of Science and Engineering are providing a free online course for precisely this case. This is dedicated to the topic of how technologies of the Industry 4.0 best in medium-sized companies can be integrated. "Hands-on Industry 4.0" will be available from 25 April 2016. The online course will feature a total of 40 guest speakers. For example, Prof Dr Günther Schuh from RWTH Aachen University, who will address the topic of implementing digital processes. The course will also focus on cybercrime. Prof Dr Claudia Eckert from the Frauenhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security will give a lecture on this topic.
