Today, no company can do without the support of ERP software. And that's not just good for the manufacturers. The benefits of a good software system are also obvious for the users themselves.
SMEs need customised ERP
The large and diverse market demands a great deal of flexibility from companies. Huge amounts of data need to be managed. The right ERP system enables the company to control its ongoing business and puts it in a position to constantly adapt to the current needs of the market. This is a necessity in order to keep up with the fierce economic competition.
However, the cost of an appropriate system for small and medium-sized companies is enormous. The mammoth systems of large corporations make little sense in these company structures, as a large number of functions simply remain unused. For large companies, it is often easier to rely on a solution that is already fully equipped, as most applications are used at some point or can be customised by the in-house IT department. However, in-house IT support is not available everywhere.
Another option for the SMEs is the use of a customised solution. However, this also means costly maintenance contracts and constant support from the provider, as the software is often not updateable once it has been customised.
More function through interfaces
Another approach that we take as a provider is that of a modular system. This gives the company the option of connecting to an ERP system that has basic functions - such as SAP Business One -, via interfaces to connect the applications that are really needed at the time. The advantages are obvious: instead of time-consuming customisation of individual functions, the appropriate solutions are simply added. However, this always requires the help of a consultant who selects the appropriate modules together with the company. However, the users can then run the system themselves and dispense with cost-intensive IT support. Nevertheless, the system always remains flexible and can be adapted to changes in the market by adding new modules as required.
