Does the data record of an SAP application contain the line-up of the German national team for the World Cup final? Could be!
The DFB doesn't just seem to want to rely on the sixth sense of Manuel Neuer, who apparently always knows exactly when and where the balls will fly towards his goal.
In 2014, Jogi Löw and his starting eleven are making use of the SAP Match Insights programme. It is used to analyse matches, players, training and opponents - and obviously successfully.
Especially before the semi-final against Brazil, the match module seems to have received another update.
Match Insights is used by German footballers for both pre-match and post-match preparation. This smart match tool is based on the HANAtechnology - a real-time query of data analyses. In other words, an analysis of the moves. "Ten players generate seven million data points in ten minutes with three balls," says Oliver Bierhoff about the module. Each player also has an app that provides him with all the information about his opponent.
Perhaps the information that Mats Hummels used to head the Germans to Belo Horizonte against France and make himself Man of the Match. Or did Schürrle take a quick look at his smartphone on the bench before being substituted against Brazil and scoring his third and fourth World Cup goals?
Will SAP Match Insights also help Jogi Löw decide on the line-up for the final against Argentina? Maybe, because nobody wants to take this decision off his hands.
