
SAP Business One handles "gross postings" mainly in two areas: the Gross profit calculation and the Net/Gross Price Mode in sales documents.
Configuration of the gross profit calculation
The default settings for gross profit calculation are located under Administration > Systeminitialisation > Document Settings > General carried out (Source: SAP B1 Inventory Valuation: Gross Profit by Item Price, SAP B1 Sales: Sales Process: Gross Profit Determination in Quotation).
- Calculate gross profit: This option must be enabled.
- Original base price: With continuous inventory management, the article price is used as the base price for calculating gross profit. Without Continuous inventory management The base price can originate from price lists or the last determined purchase price.
- % Determine gross profit as: It can be configured whether the percentage is calculated as profit/selling price or profit/base price.
Gross profit calculation in the quote
Gross profit can be simulated before submitting a quotation (Source: SAP B1 Sales: Sales Process: Gross Profit Determination in Quotations, SAP B1 Sales: Common Tasks).
- Open the offer in edit mode.
- Right-click on the voucher and select gross profit.
- Choose one of the available Basic pricing methods for the simulation (e.g. price lists, Latest purchase price, Item cost, Manual.
- The gross profit in % and amount is displayed. A negative gross profit is shown in red. The „Gross Profit Base Price" field can be made visible via the form settings.
Reports
Gross profit can be viewed in reports such as the sales analysis under Report selection > Purchasing and sales > Sales analysis (Source: SAP B1 Inventory Valuation: Gross Profit by Item Price).
Separate Net and Gross Price Modes
SAP Business One offers the ability to display documents in either net or gross price mode.

Administration > Configuration > Purchasing and Sales > Purchasing and Sales Settings > Purchasing and Salesis marked. - Net mode: On the "Content" tab, the column
