the Journal entry is the central booking unit in SAP Business One, at whose level the Versino Financial Suite (VFS) initiates the DATEV export and maintains the „DMS Link" field for document linking. The journal entry therefore explicitly stands above the document level – an incoming invoice, for example, generates a journal entry but is not an export object itself.
Context
In the VFS-DATEV export, each journal entry forms the basis for one or more accounting entries. From VFS v04.2026, the document link field is stored directly at the journal entry level, allowing tax firms to access the original digital document with a single click from within DATEV. For complex journal entries with multiple items, the export resolves the entry via the interim account 9999 to meet DATEV's requirement for a unique account-counter-account assignment. Demarcation
The journal entry is not identical to the document (e.g. incoming invoice). The document is the commercial document; the journal entry is the accounting representation in the general ledger of SAP Business One. The DATEV export of the VFS accesses at the journal entry level, not directly at the document level.
