In March 2026, SAP published the latest SAP Business One Road Map for SAP Business One. It shows where the journey is heading - for existing customers, for partners and for companies considering an implementation. This article summarises the most important content: what has already been delivered, what will follow in the short term and what strategic course SAP is setting for the long term.

SAP Business One is SAP's best-selling ERP product in terms of customer numbers. Over 83,000 companies in more than 170 countries worldwide rely on the solution - with a total of over 1.2 million users. More than 850 partners implement and support the software, and over 500 partner solutions complement the standard.
These figures explain why SAP expressly confirms the strategic importance of Business One. Karl Fahrbach, SAP Chief Partner Officer, put it this way in December 2025: Business One is of strategic importance within the SAP portfolio - and the partner ecosystem is at the centre of its success.
As a result, SAP is consistently focussing its investments on four areas: the further development of the core ERP, enabling partner co-innovations via SAP BTP and SAP Build, a flexible deployment model with a cloud focus and the competitiveness of the solution compared to other ERP systems in the SME segment.

What was already supplied with version 10 (FP 2602)
Web Client - the new standard
The web client is the central investment area of the last development cycles. It is based on the SAP Fiori Design System, runs in the native browser and accesses the same company database as the classic desktop client. It is therefore not a separate system, but a modern interface for the same core.
The Web Client already covers extensive business processes: Sales and purchasing documents including document entry and procurement confirmation wizards, CRM, service, time recording, payment transactions, warehouse transactions, production and resources as well as approval and design processes. Sophisticated analysis functions are also integrated - including list-based analyses with date offset, general overviews with KPI setup and user-defined queries.
A UI API framework is available for extensibility. Developers can use it to customise web client interfaces, integrate new controls, use webhooks and carry out the entire development directly in the VS Code IDE - including TypeScript support and deployment via the Extension Manager.
Localisations and e-invoicing
SAP continuously delivers country-specific customisations. FP 2602 has expanded the following areas, among others:
- Electronic invoicing: EU Peppol, XRechnung for Germany, KSeF for Poland, electronic invoices for Israel and Portugal
- Tax reporting: SAF-T for Norway and Portugal, e-books for Greece, withholding tax for Mexico, golden tax for China
- Other countries: CAEA for Argentina, Qualified Invoice Method for Japan, E-TDS for India, 1099 forms for the USA
As a result, Business One now supports 50 country localisations and 28 system languages.
Lifecycle management and cloud control centre
Important infrastructure improvements were also delivered with FP 2602. SAP is introducing modular Tomcat deployments: Services such as the licence service, job service and service layer controller now run on separate Tomcat instances instead of a shared instance. This reduces mutual dependencies, enables independent restarts and increases overall stability.
The Cloud Control Centre (CCC) - the central management tool for multi-tenant deployments by partners - has also been enhanced: Certificate monitoring for service unit components, SLD agent version tracking, simplified high-availability configuration and the ability to configure identity providers directly from the CCC. Microsoft SQL Server 2022 is now also supported.
What comes next (SP 2605 / FP 2608)
Core processes and compliance
For the next releases (SP 2605 and FP 2608), SAP is planning a series of enhancements in the area of business processes and legal compliance:
- Improvement of high-priority requests from the Customer Influence Programme
- Change log report enhancements
- Electronic invoicing for France (receipt from 2026)
- Audit file and ZM/ELMA file format for Germany
- JPK reports for Poland
- Support for down-payment head freight
In the area of lifecycle management, the focus is on the following topics: improved security and compliance, extended service layer coverage, certificate management optimisation for short-lived TLS certificates and support for Microsoft SQL 2025.
Web Client Extensions
SAP is planning a significant expansion of the Web Client for FP 2608. This includes:
- New process areas: HR (employee data), internal reconciliation, period-end closing, payment assistant, bank reconciliation, MRP, pick & pack, warehouse revaluation and project management
- Analytics: UDQ parameter support, integration with SAP's generative AI Hub for generating customised queries and new report content (general ledger, stock movement, purchasing analysis)
- Extensibility: Enhanced UI API controls and views, extended VS Code IDE plugin support, improved Microsoft 365 mail and attachment integration

Looking ahead: version 11 from 2027
Multi-tenant cloud for partners
Version 11 of SAP Business One has been announced for 2027. It marks the next generation leap - particularly in the area of cloud management by partners.

Key points of version 11:
- Deployment on leading hyperscaler platforms: Business One runs natively on public cloud infrastructures
- Native cloud storage integration: Connection to SharePoint, Google Drive, OneDrive and other platforms
- Unified SLD: A single System Landscape Directory manages both single-tenant and multi-tenant deployments across multiple v11 releases
- Optimised lifecycle management: Simplified installation, automated updates, in-place upgrades for components and exploration of containerisation for more deployment flexibility
- Improved authentication: Strengthening SSO, multi-factor authentication and modern authentication methods
New functional content is also planned for version 11: Item variants and BOM versioning will be added to the standard version. The desktop client and support for MS SQL and SAP HANA will be retained.
AI integration and MCP server
SAP is actively driving the AI enablement of Business One - both through its own use cases and by opening up the platform for partner solutions.
The specific plans are
- SAP Generative AI Hub Integration: Partners can use SAP AI Core Services for their own extensions
- Selected SAP use cases: Generation of custom queries via GenAI and an „Ask GenAI“ function that contextually passes selected Business One data to SAP AI Services
- Open source MCP server support: This opens up Business One for AI agent scenarios - a clear signal in the direction of agent-based process automation
What this means for SAP B1 partners and customers
The Road Map 2026 sends clear signals. SAP is sticking with version 10 and continuously delivering via feature packages and support packages. At the same time, SAP is preparing the bridge to version 11, which will be released in 2027 - with a deliberately limited overlap between the two versions.
For partners, this means that anyone investing today in the Web Client, in service layer development and in SAP BTP extensions is positioning themselves for version 11. The platform is being continuously developed, not reinvented.
For customers, this means that Business One remains a strategically secure investment. The web client is increasingly becoming the primary interface, without the desktop client disappearing in the short term. Localisation, compliance requirements and cloud options are being systematically expanded.
It is therefore worth actively monitoring developments in the Customer Influence Programme - because SAP measurably incorporates customer and partner feedback into its planning, as the numerous improvements in FP 2602 show.
