Activation in SAP Business One refers to the process of commissioning assets in the system. This process takes place either during the implementation of SAP Business One or during ongoing operations when new Attachments are acquired. The asset master data is recorded upon capitalisation and the assets are available in asset accounting from this point onwards and can be depreciated.
Procedure for the capitalisation of assets:
- Transfer from the old system (before go-live):
- Existing assets from the legacy system are transferred to the system before the introduction of SAP Business One.
- The asset master data is created and the assets are capitalised.
- Activation during operation:
- New systems that are procured during operation are recorded directly in the system.
- Activation then takes place by creating the master data.
Important points for activation:
- Asset class and amortisation method:
Before activation, the Asset class, the Depreciation method and the activation date can be defined. - Activation date:
The capitalisation date is decisive for the calculation of depreciation. If it is not specified in the asset master, the reference date is taken from the capitalisation screen. This date can no longer be changed after capitalisation.
Steps to activation:
Activation takes place via the menu:
Financial accounting > Asset accounting > Asset master data or
Financial accounting > Asset accounting > Capitalisation.
When the activation is completed, the system automatically creates a journal entry to document the transaction.
