Discounting is a method of financial mathematics used to determine the present value of a future cash flow. The future amount is reduced by a certain interest rate (discount rate) in order to take into account the time value of money. Discounting is an important method in the Investment calculation and the valuation of projects or assets. It makes it possible to compare future income and expenditure with the current value.
