Electronic Document Service (EDS) SAP Business One

The Electronic Document Service (EDS) is a key component in SAP Business One that facilitates the management, processing and communication of electronic documents and reports. Through efficient processing of electronic documents and reports, customised to local and business requirements, EDS is an indispensable tool for managing and communicating electronic documents and reports. interface especially in scenarios where the Electronic File Manager (EFM) is used.

E-invoicing in Germany: How to implement the obligation with SAP Business One

EDS runs on both Windows and Linux operating systems and operates in the background, using the EDS dashboard user interface and the DI API is controlled. By collecting data via the System Landscape Directory (SLD) and the service layer, EDS ensures that electronic documents are efficiently sent to the relevant authorities and written to the SAP Business One database.

At the heart of EDS is the ability to configure individual settings for document processing. These settings can be found in SAP Business One under Administration -> System initialisation -> Document settings and must be made in single user mode. After making changes to the document settings, the SAP Business One client and EDS must be restarted for the changes to take effect.

A special feature of EDS is its flexibility in defining export paths and file names for electronic documents. This flexibility is particularly useful if certain authorities or access points require specific structures for file names for validation. These definitions can be found under Export electronic documents - Definition in the document settings.
