Balance sheet accounts (SAP Business One)

Balance sheet accounts form the basis for the presentation of a company's asset and capital structure. They are shown in the first three levels of the Chart of accounts and comprise assets, liabilities and equity.

In SAP Business One, the balance sheet accounts are divided into Main levels e.g. "Investments", "Liabilities" and "Equity".

Important features in SAP Business One:

  • Recognise assets, liabilities and equity as at a reporting date.
  • Basis for the preparation of the balance sheet.
  • Subdivided into main levels such as "Assets", "Liabilities" and "Equity".
  • Cash accounts (e.g. cash registers, bank accounts) can be defined within these levels.

Connection with other accounts:

  • Reconciliation accountsLink subledger accounts with the ledger.
  • Clearing accounts: Used for temporary bookings to bridge time gaps.
  • Active accountsJournal entries are made to these accounts.
