Discount group (SAP Business One)

E-invoicing in Germany: How to implement the obligation with SAP Business One

A group of items in SAP Business One to which a certain percentage of the sales price has been assigned. This allocation can be applied to both item groups and business partners.

1. types of discount groups

SAP Business One offers four main types of discount groups to cover different business requirements:

  • For all business partners: Standardised discounts for all customers and suppliers.
  • For specific customer groups: Differentiated discounts based on customer segments.
  • For certain supplier groups: Specific conditions for supplier groups.
  • For individual Business partner: Customised discounts for individual partners.

2. discount structure

The discount groups allow a detailed definition of the discounts, including

  • Discounts for product groups: Joint discounts for similar products.
  • Discounts based on product attributes: For example, for articles with similar characteristics.
  • Discounts for manufacturers: Special conditions for products from certain manufacturers.
  • Discounts for certain products: Customised discounts for individual items.

Discounts can be designed as fixed percentages or as variable discounts depending on the quantity purchased. Multiple discounts can be combined within a group, allowing for flexible and precise pricing.

3. priority of the discount groups

Discount groups take precedence over other discount types, such as time or quantity discounts. This means that discounts from the groups are applied first, before alternative pricing strategies take effect. This creates a clear and structured discount logic.

4. customisation and management

Discount groups can be customised and activated or deactivated as required. Companies can:

  • Set special prices: For articles or services that are sold directly in sales and Purchase receipts be integrated.
  • Copy discount groups: To transfer similar conditions to several business partners or groups and simplify administration.

5. practical application

Setting up and managing discount groups requires access to specific tabs, including

  • item groups
  • Attributes
  • Manufacturer
  • Products

This structure offers a high degree of flexibility and efficiency in the implementation of discount strategies.

6. advantages for companies

Discount groups in SAP Business One enable pricing to be optimised and help to improve customer relationships. Companies benefit from:

  • Customised offers: Increased customer satisfaction through specific discounts.
  • Increased efficiency: Simplified management thanks to flexible copying and customisation functions.
  • Strategic pricing: Clearly defined priorities and flexible discount combinations.
