The automatic account is a function in the DATEV accounting software that enables the automatic calculation and posting of the value added tax is made possible. It significantly simplifies accounting processes and reduces potential sources of error through automation.
The VAT calculation for automatic accounts is carried out directly from the gross amount of a posting. The net amount reduced by the tax is automatically transferred to the intended Account is posted. At the same time, the calculated VAT is transferred to the corresponding VAT collective account. It is not necessary to work manually with VAT codes, as the accounts take over the tax calculation completely.
There are two main types of automatic accounts:
- AV (automatic input tax)For the calculation of input tax.
- AM (Automatic Value Added Tax)For the calculation of sales tax.
The applicable tax rate is indicated in the account labelling. The calculation is time-dependent if the accounts are labelled with the function supplement 1 (for the full tax rate) or 2 (for the reduced tax rate).
