The balance sheet offsetting account is a special offsetting account for a Stock accountwhich is used for production transactions and changes in value during the production process. It is only capitalised if the Document settings under the tab Per receipt the option "Posting with balance sheet and income statement accounts" was selected for production orders.

This Income statement contra account has the task of recording value changes in stock during production and allocating them correctly to production orders. A typical example:
-
- Extraction of raw materials: When raw materials are withdrawn from the warehouse, the corresponding value is debited from the stock account and transferred to the stock P&L contra account.
-
- Completion of products: Once production is complete, the value of the finished products is posted back to the inventory account from the P&L contra account.
This booking process systematically records all value changes in the inventory and allocates them to the corresponding production orders. This ensures transparent and seamless inventory valuation in the production environment.
