Factur-X is an e-invoice format from France. In Germany, an invoice in the Factur-X format is considered an e-invoice provided that it complies with the European standard EN 16931 (BMF letter 2024, p. 26).
Classification
The BMF cites Factur-X alongside Peppol-BIS billing as an example of permissible European formats outside of the XRechnung. Like ZUGFeRD, Factur-X uses the XML structure CII (Cross Industry Invoice). The parties involved must resolve among themselves which permissible format the two companies use: this is a civil law question (BMF letter 2024, paragraph 27; FAQ 7).
Reference to SAP Business One
The add-on solution cks.eINVOICE reads reference fields such as the order reference from invoices in the CII structure, which ZUGFeRD and Factur-X use together. The validation system has its own error codes for Factur-X with the abbreviation FX-SCH. Older versions accept incoming ZUGFeRD and Factur-X invoices, but do not read X invoices. In this case an update is required.
